How long does chicken pox last?

Health 27 February 2009 | 0 Comments

The course of the chicken pox illness, which is caused by primary infection with varicella zoster virus (VZV), varies for each child.

A child will usually be sick for about four to seven days. New blisters/pox typically stop appearing by the fifth day, most of them are already crusted by the sixth day, and most scabs disappear within twenty days after the rash begins.

However, if your child has got other health problems and complications set in, the recovery period might take longer.
