Sour cream is a popular accompaniment, especially in the western countries. Sour cream does not have a fixed shelf life. Like most other dairy products, sour cream can comfortably last for up to a week from the date of expiration. In case it is opened and refrigerated, sour cream can be had for as long as it tastes good. However, given its sour taste, it is difficult to tell when sour cream turns bad. In case you notice any mould formation on the top layer of the sour cream, it is best to throw away the whole container.
